Cecilia Lee. Violin

After completing a summer of 6 weeks at Boston University Tanglewood Institute,
violinist Cecilia Lee has been studying violin for twelve years, starting at the
age of five. Cecilia has been a member of the Syracuse Symphony Youth Orchestra
for three years, was a member of the Syracuse Symphony Youth String
Orchestra for four years before that, and is a member of the
Fayetteville-Manlius Chamber Orchestra. In addition to the Tanglewood Institute where she studied with Profesor Dana Mazurkevich of Boston University and the
ENSO string quartet, Cecilia has spent summers studying at the Hartwick College
Summer Music Festival, Crane Youth Music camp, and the Ithaca College Suzuki
Institute. Cecilia is a participant of all-county, all-regional, and all-state
music festivals. In addition to violin Cecilia studied piano for eight years,
winning the Gold Cup award two times. Teachers of Cecilia include Carol Sasson,
Nancy Fennessy, and current studies with Mr. James Krehbiel of Syracuse
University. Aside from performance, Miss Lee is a member of the Math League,
Science Honor Society, and Trim-Music Honor Society. In her spare time, she
likes to read, spend time with friends and family, and watch movies.


Julia Stone. Violin

Violin has been a part of Julia Stone's life for the past 7 years. In that time she has participated in the Fayetteville-Manlius High School Chamber Orchestra, the school's pit orchestra, the Syracuse Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Syracuse Symphony Youth String Orchestra, and has been the concert master for the Fayetteville-Manlius Presto Orchestra. She has studied individually with Mary Coburn, Muriel Bodley, Kevin Giordano, and Nancy Fennessy. For the fall semester of 2008, she is studying at the Conservatoire Municipal de Musique de Ferney-Voltaire under the instruction of Johnny Zefferini in Genève, France. She is a member of the area's string orchestra that recently spent 5 days at a music festival in the Jura mountains. In reviews she has been said to play "tellement bien,” translating to "with incredible excellence." Apart from violin, Julia enjoys karate (she has a second degree black belt in Goju-Ryu Karate), studying 5 languages, traveling abroad, and enjoying the privileges of her driver’s license.


Dan Brown. Viola

Dan Brown is a senior at Fayetteville-Manlius High School where he plays in the Symphony and Chamber Orchestras. Shortly after winning the Civic Morning Musical award for Outstanding Junior Musician in 2009, he received the honor of being named Youth Musician of the Year by the Syracuse Symphony Association. Dan was recently accepted into the ASTA National Honors Orchestra as well as the New York All-State Orchestra for the second consecutive year.  In his junior year of high school Dan became the principal violist of the Syracuse Symphony Youth Orchestra, and later that year played in concert series for both Civic Morning Musical and Syracuse Friends of Chamber Music. In addition to solo work Dan has played in and managed the Limestone Quartet since its foundation in 2004. Aside from viola, Dan sings in his school’s chorale and vocal jazz ensemble. Summer festivals include studies at Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Brevard Music Center, and the School of Orchestral Studies at the New York State Summer School of the Arts. Dan studies with Carol Sasson and has performed in masterclasses with Roberto Diaz and Michelle LaCourse. In addition to music Dan enjoys playing soccer and tennis, cooking, and spending time with his family and friends. Dan plans on pursuing collegiate studies in viola performance and French.


Vinny Nguyen. Cello

Cellist Vinny Nguyen is in his ninth year of cello studies, having studied under Muriel Bodley, Walden Bass, and chamber coachings under faculty members of SUNY Fredonia. A regular at All-State, All-Regional, and All-County orchestra conventions, Nguyen’s leadership and deep rich tone have led to engagements such as performing with the Fayetteville-Manlius String Octet, Syracuse Symphony Youth Orchestra,  and helping to found the Limestone Quartet. Apart from music Nguyen excels academically, taking multiple AP courses and as a member of Science Honor Society and Tri-M music society, as well as athletically as a member of the varsity football team.
